Wise Words From Our Past
"Either write something worth reading or do something
worth writing."
Benjamin Franklin-
"It is impossible to rightly
govern a nation without
God and the Bible."
George Washington-
"America will never
be destroyed from the outside.
If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because
we destroyed ourselves."
Abraham Lincoln-
Breathe Hope
While walking in the
pouring rain,
I heard the wind
whisper your name,
and thought of all the many things
you had been going through.
Sometimes life's seasons
seem so cold,
that teardrops fill
our very souls,
but know in time all storms
come to an end...
And it's then you'll find
you can breathe
hope again.

to every man that asketh
you a reason of the hope that is in you..."

Jesus is Our Hope
If you asked the average person had they ever experienced a moment of "hopelessness," most (if they were honest) would have to answer "yes." What if you asked the very same group of people, "What is it that gave you a glimmer of hope in your darkest hour?"
To begin with, we must understand the meaning of the word, "hope." Hope is the confidence, trust or belief, that something will change. For Christians, Jesus Christ and the Word of God, are our hope. It is why we have a "blessed assurance" of a better day coming.
When a sailor is in the middle of a horrible storm, he must use the skills he has learned in order to get himself and his ship through the rough weather.
If he stands on the deck and starts cursing the storm, it will not in any manner change his circumstances. The waves will still batter the ship and he will be no better off for his words.
His hope must be on what he has learned and knowledge of how seaworthy his vessel is. He must hold onto to the facts that all storms do eventually end and a raging sea will one day be calm.
We have the same hope in our lives as well. Christ is the vessel to carry us through life and the Word of God are the skills we use when the storms come. They calm and comfort us...He and His words are our hope.
But hope is not just for us. Hope, once learned, must be shared with those who we meet in life. Hope is truly the rope we throw to others when they cannot make it back to shore on their on.
My sister, Rosemary, taught me these great lessons about hope. When I was drowning in sickness and was too weary to move forward, she brought me hope. It was to keep going, no matter how rough a storm I was in. It was to continuing while broken, and being surprised how healing often will come quicker, when we don't give all of our energy over to worrying about being sick, but concentrate on the hope of healing.
She, and others who cared, were the ropes I held onto until I could make it on my own. God did not remove the challenge, but sent me the help I needed to get through it.
Jesus Christ, is the hand reaching out in the storm, surrounding us with His love, and placing us in a calm place once more. Share hope by sharing Him.
God Bless-
